The Ministry of Environmental Protection announced on June 5 that Dongfeng Renault’s 150,000 passenger car construction project had been approved by the EIA on May 22. People in the industry regard it as a prelude to Renault’s domestic approval of projects.
According to documents from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Dongfeng Renault's proposed plant is located in the Golden Port Industrial Zone in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, with a total investment of 7.21 billion yuan. After the project is completed, it will form an annual production capacity of 150,000 passenger vehicles and supporting 150,000 engines. The annual sales income will reach 20.4 billion after reaching production, and the total annual profit is expected to be nearly 2 billion yuan. 
Judging from the publicity of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Dongfeng Renault project's environmental review was very smooth. The processing time was 3.25-3.29 days, and it was formally approved on May 22, with less than two months in between. Considering that the French president arrived in China on April 25, he had expressed his hope that Renault could make it as soon as possible, perhaps playing a role in promoting it to some extent.
After the approval of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the project needs the approval of the Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
