Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share some exciting news about the progress being made here. The Braidwood Fire Protection District is officially starting their shift at our station tomorrow, October 16th, 2023, at 6 AM. It’s incredible to see all the hard work that the Braidwood firefighters, along with their administration and volunteers, have accomplished in such a short amount of time to get this station back up and running.
They’ve done an amazing job giving the place a fresh new look, including repainting both the interior and the garage doors. They’ve also completely overhauled our IT infrastructure, setting up a brand-new data closet, and ensuring everything is state-of-the-art. Beyond that, they’ve done a thorough deep clean and sanitization of the entire building, which really makes a difference. On top of that, they've helped us inventory what we have left and even prepared some surplus equipment for sale.
These past five months have been tough, but we’re moving forward with our new partners at Braidwood. For the first time in Custer FPD history, we’ll now have a 24/7 staffed Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport ambulance serving our community. That’s huge for us, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their dedication and effort.
