I recently came across this listing on eBay for a 2008 International 4300/Medtec Ambulance. It seems like bidding has already closed on this item, but I thought it was worth sharing since it caught my attention.
This ambulance was originally purchased new back in 2008 by the Village of Clarendon Hills and served as an active-duty emergency vehicle for their fire department until early 2015. After that, it was taken out of regular service and kept in reserve status until July 2022. During that time, it was only brought into action when their primary ambulance was down for maintenance or repairs. Interestingly, it still holds a valid safety inspection sticker from August 2022.
The technical specs for this rig are pretty solid. It's powered by the original International MaxxForce DT engine, paired with an Allison transmission, which is also the original setup. One neat feature is the air suspension with rear dump capability, making it easier to handle heavy loads. There’s even a 51-gallon diesel fuel tank cleverly tucked under the passenger-side step.
