On September 29, 2012, around 10:30 a.m., the Robbins Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the corner of Alida Avenue and Grace Avenue. The correct address was later confirmed as 14003 S. Grace Ave. Upon arrival, Engine 2913 found a one-story brick home with a fire inside. The house appeared to be vacant.
The Incident Commander (IC) initially called for a "Full Still" on Box #2909 at approximately 10:35 a.m. However, due to low water pressure and heavy fire conditions, the alarm was upgraded to a Box Alarm at around 10:42 a.m. Two fire lines were deployed, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters faced significant challenges during the incident, as the home had burglar bars on all windows and dense bushes surrounding the property, making access difficult. Despite these obstacles, crews worked efficiently to bring the fire under control.
