MVA with fire in Prospect Heights, 5-1-21

This is a statement from Prospect Heights Fire Protection District Chief Drew Smith: At approximately 5:07 AM on Saturday, May 1st, emergency services from Prospect Heights and Wheeling were dispatched to a multi-vehicle accident involving a vehicle fire on eastbound Palatine Road, close to the Wolf intersection. Upon arrival, responding firefighters discovered a minivan fully engulfed in flames along with at least two other vehicles involved in the crash. The incident occurred just east of the Canadian National railroad bridge. Despite the extensive damage to the vehicles, no individuals required transportation to the hospital. A Superior ambulance was present at the scene but couldn't proceed past the wreckage. I’m informed that they initiated triage efforts even before our fire companies arrived.
