Lug-All Pre-Operational Inspection
Lug-All Come Along Ratchet Winch Hoists are renowned for their high-quality design and construction. These hoists are built to last, using premium materials and precise engineering to ensure consistent performance over many years. However, regular inspections and maintenance are crucial to maintaining the durability and reliability of your Lug-All hoist. Inspection Checklist Before using your Lug-All winch hoist, it’s essential to conduct a thorough pre-operational inspection. If any part of the hoist fails the inspection criteria, it should be taken out of service immediately. Damaged hoists can either be sent to Lug-All for professional repairs or fixed using replacement parts available through the Lug-All online store. Operational Testing The Lug-All winch hoist offers three primary modes of operation: tensioning, backing off, and free release. To test the tensioning function, turn the reverse lever towards the drum to engage the u-frame pawl against the ratchet teeth. Rotate the handle as needed to apply appropriate tension. To test the backing-off function, move the reverse lever away from the drum to disengage the u-frame pawl from the ratchet teeth. Push the handle until the u-frame pawl engages the main frame pawl spring. Further pressure in the same direction will release the main frame pawl. Release the handle gently to allow the load to descend one tooth at a time. For the free release function, shift the reverse lever away from the drum to disengage the u-frame pawl from the ratchet teeth. Activate the trigger to hold the main frame pawl away from the ratchet teeth. Maintenance Tips It’s common for Lug-All winch hoists used outdoors to experience some degree of corrosion. Shafts and movable parts can benefit from occasional lubrication using light oils or penetrants like WD-40. Proper lubrication ensures smooth operation while preventing unnecessary wear. However, avoid applying lubricants directly onto the strap of web strap hoists, as this could impair its dielectric properties and damage the strap material. Regularly inspecting your Lug-All come-along ratchet winch hoist helps prevent unexpected maintenance issues down the road. While these hoists are manufactured to strict quality standards, neglecting maintenance can lead to malfunctions—even complete failure—during critical operations. Poor upkeep poses risks not only to your equipment but also to your personal safety. Staying on top of inspections and maintenance protects both your gear and yourself.
