Domestic steel plate flaw detection equipment has reached the world advanced level

China's first domestically developed automatic inspection system for thick and heavy steel plates has been operating smoothly for 12 consecutive months at Wuyang Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. This groundbreaking equipment, known as the "MS-32nC type 192-channel ultrasonic steel plate flaw detection system," is capable of automatically inspecting wide and thick steel plates with a maximum width of 3.8 meters. It is currently the largest ultrasonic flaw detection device in China for steel plates, marking a significant milestone in domestic steel quality control technology.
The system uses ultrasonic waves to detect internal defects by analyzing reflected echoes when the waves encounter flaws during their propagation. It integrates advanced technologies such as bottom wave gate tracking, damage wave processing, and four correlation methods, along with specialized software that supports seven domestic and international quality standards. The system can perform quantitative testing on nearly 40 types of special steel plates, significantly improving detection accuracy and efficiency.
This innovative equipment was officially recognized by the Science and Technology Department of Liaoning Province in late 2005, following a successful technological achievement evaluation. According to an expert appraisal panel, the system not only ranks among the top in technical performance within China but also demonstrates stability and reliability comparable to leading foreign counterparts in the same field. With its advanced features and proven performance, this equipment represents a major leap forward in China's steel industry, setting new benchmarks for automated quality inspection.
