The Minmetals Chemicals Import & Export Chamber of Commerce will implement the concept of responsible care and responsibility distribution in China in strict accordance with the ICCTA regulations, further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and international counterpart organizations, and provide international services for Chinese companies.
The China Minmetals Chemicals Import and Export Chamber of Commerce participated in the ICCTA meeting for the first time in June 2006 and became its alternate member in 2007. Under the guidance of the American Chemical Distributors Association, it explored the feasibility of promoting corporate social responsibility in the Chinese chemical industry. According to the person in charge of the chamber of commerce, they first selected the citric acid industry as a pilot point. After two years of preparation and several rounds of consultation and revision, the “China citric acid industry corporate social responsibility standards†has been formulated. There are currently nine domestic companies. Citric acid companies began to carry out relevant certification work. In the next step, the Chamber of Commerce will expand the scope of trials and guide more enterprises to participate in third-party certification of corporate social responsibility.
It is understood that in recent years, more and more countries in the world have taken various technical measures to manage and restrict the production and trade of chemical substances, and corporate social responsibility will also become a new threshold for entry into the markets of developed countries. Many international industrial giants regard whether or not the raw material suppliers meet the corporate social responsibility standards as one of the important conditions for entering their supply chain. At present, nearly 10 members of the chemical industry associations in developed countries have reached the responsible distribution/responsibility care standards. ICCTA has 22 national-level members and its main members are from developed countries. Its main responsibility is to promote corporate social responsibility in the global chemical industry.
