According to a comprehensive foreign news report, in the next year and a half, Kia Motors intends to carry Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in-vehicle systems for all European models.

Car-linked technology has become a major trend in the automotive industry, and major automakers will eventually meet the needs of consumers in this area. Kia Motors aims to provide consumers with the latest car-linking technology at different price points. It said that by the end of 2017, it will add Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions to Kia's entire European production line.

The latest operating system that is compatible with smartphones will be available on the new Kia Niro Hybrid SUV, Optima plug-in hybrid and four-wheel drive sports models after launch in Europe later this year.

The Niro crossover will be the first Kia model to be powered by Android Auto since the third quarter of 2016. It can be connected to an Android phone running Lollipop 5.0. When the mobile phone is connected to the car through the USB interface, the user can access the mobile APP and other functions through the in-vehicle infotainment system, such as Google voice map navigation, hands-free calling, text and voice recognition. Apple CarPlay, designed for the iPhone 5 or newer iPhone, will be available at the end of 2016.

The long-wheel four-wheel sports version will be available for sale in the fourth quarter of 2016. It is the first Kia model to be equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay dual systems since the release date.
