On February 28, 2008, the automotive parts industry unveiled its "Top Ten" awards for 2007, marking the culmination of a three-month event that had captured widespread attention. Known for its authoritative and professional approach, this selection process attracted significant participation from industry professionals. After intense competition, winners were announced across multiple categories, including Top Ten Individuals, Top Ten Famous Brands, Top Ten Filter Brands, Top Ten Future Auto Parts Cities, Top Ten Distributors, Top Ten Export Companies, and Top Ten Multinational Enterprises. These awards recognized both established leaders and rising stars, showcasing their outstanding achievements over the past year.
The purpose of the "Top Ten" selection was to boost online engagement within the automotive aftermarket, acknowledge the contributions of top companies, promote brand recognition, and foster collaboration between manufacturers and distributors. This initiative aimed to support the healthy development of the auto parts industry while providing a platform for companies to enhance their visibility and product awareness.
The 2007 "Top Ten" event became one of the most significant in the industry, backed by over 30 major media outlets such as CCTV, Beijing TV, Sohu, Sina, Tencent, and Auto Business Network. With over 2 million votes cast and more than 1 million user messages, the event created a huge buzz and set new standards for industry recognition.
Among the notable winners was Yin Tongyao, chairman of Chery Automobile, who received the "Top Ten Persons of the Year" award. His win was a testament to his leadership and vision, reflecting the strong support for China’s national automotive industry. Additionally, several well-known figures and brands reappeared on the list, highlighting their long-standing influence. For instance, "Qiu Shiqiang" and "Chen Lixiang" have been prominent in the industry for years, while brands like Zero Kilometers and Shan Duoli are already household names.
This year also introduced new categories such as Top Ten Filter Brands, Top Ten Export Companies, and Top Ten Multinational Enterprises. Leading global players like Bosch, Philips, Johnson, Mahle, and Schaeffler joined forces with domestic companies, demonstrating the growing influence of international firms in the Chinese market.
The voting process combined online, SMS, and offline methods, ensuring broad participation and fairness. Each IP address could vote once per hour, preventing manipulation, while SMS voting allowed users to cast up to three votes. The overwhelming response led to system outages, proving the high level of public interest. To include those without internet access, the organizers distributed 200,000 physical ballots, which were later verified and added to the digital count.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 29 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, where industry leaders from across the country will gather to celebrate the achievements of the year.
