The advantages of French light commercial vehicles in Western Europe expand

Paris, November 21 — According to a report by *Tribune* on the 21st, PSA Peugeot Citroën and Renault continue to dominate the light commercial vehicle market in Western Europe, maintaining their top two positions with strong growth expected in the coming years. Their dominance is driven by increasing demand for small delivery and commercial vehicles, which are essential for businesses across the region. In the first nine months of this year, PSA Peugeot Citroën sold 288,400 light commercial vehicles, marking a 6% rise compared to the same period last year. This gave them a solid 18.8% market share, securing the top spot in the Western European market. Renault followed closely with 223,000 units sold, a slight 0.7% increase year-on-year, capturing 14.6% of the market. Meanwhile, Fiat, Ford, and Volkswagen held the third to fifth positions, showing steady but less aggressive growth. The Western European light commercial vehicle segment remains highly competitive. In the first nine months of 2024, sales of vehicles under 3.5 tons reached 1.53 million units. For PSA, light commercial vehicles accounted for 15% of its total sales in the region, while for Renault, the figure was even higher at 18%. This highlights the importance of this segment for both manufacturers. Looking ahead, both PSA and Renault are preparing to launch new models to strengthen their positions. PSA plans to introduce two new light commercial vehicles next year, while Renault will roll out an upgraded version of its popular Kangoo model. These moves are expected to further solidify their leadership and drive continued success in one of Europe’s most important automotive markets.
