Early Saturday morning, November 23rd, firefighters from Chicago’s 6th Battalion rushed to a reported house fire on S Oakley Avenue at around 5:30 AM. Upon arrival, they found the blaze already well underway in the back of the building. Firefighters were told that someone was still inside, but heavy smoke made it impossible to enter immediately. After a tense search, a victim was located and pulled out of the burning home. Tragically, the individual later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
