Buffalo Grove Fire Department officially placed their brand new Ferrara Igniter engine into service just after lunch today, and within three hours, it was already out responding to multiple calls. The first call came in around 1:30 PM — a medical emergency. Just a few hours later, the same engine was back on the scene for another medical response and then a serious vehicle extrication.
The incident that really caught attention happened when a driver lost control and crashed into the Rainbow Cleaners located at 482 Half Day Road, near Buffalo Grove Road. Police arrived quickly and reported that three people were injured, including the driver who was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters worked swiftly to remove the roof of the Lexus before carefully extracting the driver. Fortunately, the driver didn’t appear to be seriously hurt. The other two victims declined transport and signed release forms.
This quick response highlighted the efficiency and readiness of the newly deployed engine, which is now fully operational and ready for any emergency that may come its way. The photos captured the moment the engine was on the scene, showing how fast they were able to react and assist. It's a great start for this new unit in Buffalo Grove.
