Sweden and Chongqing sign biogas equipment contract

According to the Swedish "China Business" magazine, under the promotion of the Swedish Embassy in China and the Swedish Environmental Technology Center, a number of Swedish environmental technology companies have recently received orders from China. Among them, the water treatment company Purac received a contract for the construction of a biogas production facility for restaurant waste in Chongqing, with a contract value of approximately 30 million yuan. Purac will also hope to obtain orders for the construction of the second and third phase of the equipment. Purac Company stated that the contract is of great significance and is the first time that the company has obtained processing orders for restaurant waste in China and will become a model project for Purac and Swedish biogas technology. China has a large market for kitchen waste, and other cities have great interest. It is alleged that Purac’s equipment handles 170 tons of kitchen waste daily, which can be converted into electricity. It took eight months for the equipment to be built and some parts were supplied by Purac's subsidiary in Beijing. The key components and technologies will come from the Purac headquarters in Lund. Chongqing will invest 170 million yuan around this project. After the equipment is completed, it will produce 5 MW of electricity. According to reports, Purac has so far provided 70 water treatment facilities for the Chinese city and paper industry. In March this year, the company also received an order for a water treatment plant in Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province, with a contract value of 105 million kronor.
