By then, Shanghai Expressway Network will add 80 ETC lanes. Shanghai's ETC lane will increase to 264.

The reporter was informed that the new main line toll station ETC special lane changed the railing from one-sided to two-sided, and the railing was adjusted to open at a 45-degree angle from the vertical opening; at the same time, the antenna sensing range was adjusted from 6 meters. At 10 meters, the speed at which the vehicle passes through the crossing is increased from 20 km/h to 40 km/h.

It has been revealed that Shanghai has successfully realized the interconnection and intercommunication of the expressway network ETC with the five eastern provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Fujian, and Zhejiang. The city has 184 expressway ETC lanes. It has implemented 9.5 percent discount for ETC user highway tolls for three consecutive years. The number of ETC users in the city has reached 288,000, and the average daily flow of ETC has reached 170,000 vehicles from Monday to Friday. 20% of the total network traffic has greatly eased congestion and contributed to energy conservation and emission reduction.

Highway ETC (non-stop charging) system is a good way to save energy, reduce emissions, and make low-carbon travel. Compared with MTC (artificial toll collection) vehicles, ETC vehicles have a 50% reduction in fuel consumption between areas that pass through a toll station before and after 300 meters. Among them, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by 71.3% and 48.9%.
