Orland FPD to remodel Station 2

The Orland Fire Protection District is set to begin a major renovation of Station #2. This project marks an important step in modernizing the facility to better serve the community and meet current safety standards. Station 2, located at 151st and 80th Avenue, was originally constructed in 1980 as a small station designed to support volunteer firefighters and part-time personnel. It featured just one bay along with a basic office, kitchen, and day area—intended for minimal use rather than full-time operations. Over the years, as the demand for emergency services grew, the station underwent several upgrades to accommodate overnight stays and 24-hour staffing. Additional bays were added, and the kitchen and common areas were expanded to better support the needs of the crew. However, due to the multiple modifications and additions over time, bringing the station up to current building codes would only be a temporary fix. Recognizing this, the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees approved a complete and comprehensive remodel during their meeting in June 2013. The new design aims to create a more efficient, safe, and functional space that will serve the department for years to come. The renovation is expected to start this fall and will take approximately eight weeks. During this time, crews will work to update the structure, improve facilities, and ensure everything meets modern fire service standards. An artist’s rendering of the updated Station #2 has been released, giving the public a glimpse of what the new facility will look like. A link to the full renovation plans can be found [HERE](#). In addition, a photo of the current Station 2 is also available, showing how far the facility has come over the years. This image was taken by Karl Klotz. Thanks, Kevin.
