Orland FPD to remodel Station 2

The Orland Fire Protection District is preparing to start a major renovation of Station #2. This project marks an important step in modernizing the facility to better serve the community and meet current safety standards. Station 2, located at 151st and 80th Avenue, was originally built in 1980 as a basic station for volunteer firefighters and POC (Paramedic on Call) personnel. At the time, it had just one bay, along with an office, kitchen, and day area—designed more for part-time use rather than full-time housing or emergency response. Over the years, as the district's needs grew, the station was gradually upgraded to support overnight stays and 24-hour operations. Additional bays were added, and the kitchen and common areas were expanded. However, due to multiple additions and reconfigurations over time, bringing the station up to code would only be a temporary fix. That’s why the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees approved a complete and comprehensive renovation during their June 2013 meeting. The renovation is set to begin this fall and is expected to take around eight weeks. The project will include updates to the building structure, improved living quarters, and enhanced operational spaces to better support the firefighters who serve the community. An artist’s rendering of the new design gives a glimpse of what the updated Station #2 will look like. You can view the full renovation plans by clicking [HERE](#). In the meantime, here's a look at the current state of Station 2, captured in a photo by Karl Klotz:
