Nissan plans to sell car battery factory

According to sources, Nissan is negotiating with Panasonic and overseas companies, including Chinese companies, to sell its controlling stake in a car battery manufacturing plant.
According to two people familiar with the matter, the Japanese automaker wants to sell a 51% stake in its car-power supply company because it is more economical to buy batteries for its electric vehicles, including Leaf pure electric vehicles . The automotive energy supply company was established by Nissan and Japan Electric Co., Ltd., and is responsible for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
