Country Club Hills fire 1-14-11

Fire crews from Country Club Hills were dispatched today around noon to a structure fire at 4841 W. 173rd Street. Upon receiving the call, they were informed that an occupant was reported trapped on the roof. When units arrived, heavy smoke was visible coming from a one-story, 40×40 frame commercial/office building. However, by the time firefighters reached the scene, the occupant had already exited the roof and suffered only minor burns. The incident was classified as a Full Still Alarm with a MABAS Box Alarm for tankers due to the distance to the nearest hydrant, which required companies to stretch nearly two blocks. MABAS Division 24 Tanker Box #2410 was called in as a precautionary measure. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control within about 30 minutes. Several mutual aid units responded from nearby areas, including Oak Forest, Tinley Park, Flossmoor, Markham, Midlothian, and Hazel Crest. Karl Klotz provided the report and photos, and he has a full gallery available [here](#). Below are some of the images captured during the incident:
