3-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 4-29-16

This is from Larry Shapiro:

Chicago had a 3-11 alarm fire last night (April 29, 2016) at 3327 W. 48th Place. It was a four-story building, measuring 100 by 300 feet, filled with mattresses. I arrived at the end of the incident and thought I’d share a few photos of the apparatus on scene. I know several other contributors were there earlier, so here are some of the specialty units that responded. These included the Mobile Battery Vehicle 6-3-9, Rehab Unit 5-7-1, the 5-11 Club Canteen 4-0-2, the Communications Van 2-7-4, and the MVU 9-2-4 from O’Hare, which was specially called in. There was also an all-red buggy and another unit with blue lights.

It was interesting to see how quickly they brought in specialized units for such a large structure fire. The presence of the Mobile Battery Vehicle and the Rehab Unit showed that the department was prepared for a long operation. I’ve been following Chicago FD for a while now, and it’s always great to see these types of responses. If you’re into fire apparatus or want to see real-world emergency operations, this is definitely worth checking out. Let me know if you'd like more details or additional photos from the scene!
