First , the development of the caving method

The classification of the caving mining method is shown in the figure.

(1) For the method of bottomed column caving, China has only adopted it since the early 1960s. It has been more than 20 years old. This method of non-ferrous metal mines saw rapid development, production using this method of mining is increasing. The development of the sublevel caving method is second only to the shallow hole retention method and the small field method of the empty field, ranking third, and the stage collapse method ranks fourth.



(2) The sublevel caving method without pillars was widely used in China in the 1960s, and our national metal mines began to be tested in 1965. In recent years, it has been rapidly developed and promoted. (especially the iron mountain)

(3) The caving method has the advantages of high production efficiency, safe operation and flexible use. The amount of ore mined by this type of mining method now accounts for about 26% of the total underground mining volume, which can be counted. With the development of mining technology, it will be more widely used.

Second, the applicable conditions of the caving mining law

Generally speaking, the caving method has a wide range of adaptation to the conditions of the ore body and the physical and mechanical properties of the ore. The ideal application condition is that the surrounding rock of the upper plate can be collapsed naturally, and the ore is stable and steeply inclined ore body. Allowing the surface to collapse is a necessary prerequisite for using this method. Because this method is depleted of ore loss during mining, it is not used to mine high-priced, high-grade deposits.
