Scania Motors reopens Japan and South Korea market

Scania recently announced that they will terminate their cooperation with Japan's Hino Company and that new cooperation will be adopted between them. In 2002, Scania and Hino reached a strategic cooperation agreement. They will complement each other in technology, sales and service.

Hino is a manufacturer of diesel trucks, buses and other vehicles in Tokyo, Japan. Hino has a leading position in Japan’s heavy-duty diesel truck manufacturing. Hino is a member of the Toyota Group.
Both had signed a strategic cooperation agreement in 2002 and will complement each other in technology, sales and service.
Under the new cooperation agreement, Scania will remain as a dealer of Hino trucks in South Korea. To ensure sales and services in Japan, Scania will focus on increasing sales in the market segments. Sol Bong Chai, head of marketing at Scania Japan, said: “In the short term, it is very likely to cause a decline in the sales of special vehicles, such as large-scale transportation of highways, but this is only a small part, and Scania through it Strong modular production system, we can tailor-made for the Japanese market and provide professional vehicles."
