According to reports, due to the decline in German manufacturing demand, supplier Bosch has cut the working hours of 1,800 employees in Germany and reduced output.

Bosch began to reduce production in Germany in early June 2013. The company's 1.5% employees are affected; these employees are distributed in the Group's Industrial Technology business unit and the Energy and Building Technology business unit. Apart from arranging for the above employees to use overtime holidays, Bosch also reduced its working hours.

The Bosch Industrial Technology Division provides drive, control and packaging technologies, while the Energy and Building Technologies business unit's products include construction safety systems and water heaters.

As the German government reduced its subsidies for new energy industries, Bosch announced in March that it would consider selling or closing its solar business. Since its establishment in 2008, Bosch Solar Business has so far accumulated losses of 2.4 billion euros.
