According to "Automotive News", General Motors has appointed a new head of autonomous driving technology to accelerate the development of self-driving electric vehicles.

GM said in a statement that Doug Parks, vice president of GM's global product program, is now appointed as executive vice president of autonomous driving technology and automotive projects, overseeing the new electric battery system for self-driving electric vehicles. Work with software development and report to Mark Reuss, global product development lead. Doug Parks will take up his new position on February 1.

Sheri Hickok, the new generation of pickup truck chief engineer, will take over the position of chief engineer and team executive chief engineer. Pam Fletcher, chief engineer of the General Electric Vehicle Program, will also be responsible for the strategic planning tasks associated with self-driving electric vehicles and report to Doug Parks.
