Caterpillar Logistics Services will manage the construction of a leased state-of-the-art 50,000-square-meter logistics center located in Sagamihara, near Tokyo, Japan, and is expected to open in February 2008. Approximately 250 Caterpillar Logistics Services professionals will provide logistics services that will enable Yuling Heavy Industries and the new Caterpillar to better serve customers and bring greater value to them.
Caterpillar Logistics Services conducted an extensive 18-month investigation prior to the agreement to provide detailed advice to Yulin Heavy Industries and New Caterpillar to achieve a world-class supply chain in Japan.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' diverse product lineup includes industrial and general-purpose machinery, while New Caterpillar is engaged in the manufacture and sale of construction equipment such as hydraulic excavators, crawler tractors, wheel loaders and paving equipment.
