3-Alarm fire inHarvey, 1-19-20
This is from Eric Haak: The Harvey Fire Department responded to a third-alarm fire at a commercial building early Sunday morning on January 19th. The blaze was intense, with heavy flames visible on the second floor of a large 50 by 75-foot corner building. Firefighters worked through the night to bring the main fire under control, but the job wasn’t over once the flames were tamed. After the initial attack, crews had a significant amount of overhaul work to do, especially in the freezing cold. Hidden fires still needed to be found and fully extinguished before the scene could be declared safe. It's always a challenge when temperatures are low, as it can make detecting smoldering embers more difficult and increase the risk of rekindling. Eric Haak captured several powerful images of the incident, showing the intensity of the fire and the dedication of the firefighters working through the night. From a Pierce fire truck battling the flames to firefighters using an aerial ladder, the photos highlight the scale and complexity of the response.
